Privacy Policy for EaseHeading

Last Updated: Aug 2026

EaseHeading ("we," "our," or "the extension") is committed to ensuring your privacy while using our Chrome Extension. This policy outlines our practices regarding data collection and usage for the Beta version of our software.

1. Overview

EaseHeading is a navigation tool designed to transform webpage text into organized heading outlines. The extension provides this information via a persistent Side Panel interface. To protect your privacy, this extension functions strictly on your local device without any external data transmission.

2. No Collection of Personal Information

EaseHeading does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII).

  • We do not require account registration.
  • We do not access your name, email address, or contact details.
  • We do not use cookies or tracking pixels to monitor your behavior.

3. Data Processed Locally

To provide its core functionality within the Side Panel, the extension processes the following information strictly on your local machine:

  • Webpage Content: The extension reads heading tags (<h1>, <h2>) and calculates word counts to generate the Table of Contents and reading time estimates.
  • Webpage URLs: The extension stores the URL of the current page locally to associate and persist your "pinned" headings for that specific site.
  • User Preferences: Your chosen UI settings, such as color theme and font size, are saved locally.

4. Data Storage

All data mentioned above is stored using the chrome.storage.local API.

  • Local Only: This data remains on your physical device.
  • No Cloud Sync: In this Beta version, no data is synchronized to the cloud or uploaded to any external servers.

5. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any information with third parties. Because we do not collect your data on our servers, there is no database for third parties to access.

6. Data Deletion

All data stored by the extension is managed by your browser. You can permanently delete all information stored by EaseHeading by:

  1. Right-clicking the extension icon and selecting "Remove from Chrome."
  2. Or, by clearing your browser's extension data in the Chrome Settings menu.

7. Developer Program Policies Compliance

We certify that our data usage complies with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the "Limited Use" requirements. The sidePanel permission is used exclusively to provide a persistent navigation interface and does not collect or transmit user data.

Built for functionality and UI.
